| What is cigar?March 22, 2010 Cigar (from Spanish cigarro) - is a roll made of tobacco leafs that can be smoked in that form that it has. Such definition is given in 7 volume edition of Robber dictionary and is supplemented with the list of cigar brands names, for example, "havane", "londres", "panatela"... It is known that authorities of many countries have introduced technical supplement in cigar's definition long ago.
For example, here is cigar's definition that gives Customs of Russian Federation: 1. Cigars consist entirely from tobacco including covering leaf (wrapper). 2. Wrapper strip and wraps also can be made of reconstituted tobacco, where 60% of tobacco particles have width and length more than 1.75 mm. 3. Covering leaf has wrapper strip on the angle, at least, 30 degree to axis of roll. 4. Circumference length of the article makes less than 34 mm. Many people like to compare cigars with wine. And if comparing cigar according to difficulty of production, it may be compared with champagne or cognac. In realty cigar represents result of manipulations with carefully selected high-quality tobacco leafs of different origin and destination. As result of such manipulations each cigar - depending on sort and size – acquires its own specific character. On Cuba where for decades Havana cigars acquired legendary importance on neighboring island Santo-Domingo, in Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia and Canary Islands cigars are made in similar way, not considering some small nuances. |
