How to choose smoking pipe?

Incorrectly chosen pipe nobody and nothing will correct!

You mustn't start with the most expensive pipes. It is better to smoke example that costs 50-100 USD. For this money can be acquired some successful pipe of not very popular manufacturer or an old model of a famous Pipe House. They will be approximately the same as to quality and performance.

Form

Pipe must obligatory be liked. It should provide esthetic pleasure, comfortably lie in the hand and be comfortable in the mouth (unfortunately, you cannot try it in the shop as it is prohibited to bite mouthpiece). It is recommended to choose straight or almost straight pipe, possible with insignificant bend.

Cup

Cup should be medium, not very big, and not very small. The depths of the cup should be approximately 3-3.5 centimeters, but diameter approximately 1.5 centimeters. Pipe with big cup and thick walls seats well in the hand, doesn't heat so much as a small one with thin walls, but it probably will be too heavy to hold it in the teethes. You should find the golden mean as it happens in the life. The length of chibouk together with the mouthpiece should be approximately ten centimeters. Smoke in short pipes is cooled down badly from whence appears sense of discomfort, especially it concerns beginners.

Smoke channel

It should be drilled from the bottom or, if you wish on the cup's bottom. If the channel is drilled above the bottom, than tobacco doesn't burn down below the channel and always remains moist what lead to souring of the pipe (pipe will lose its taste). If the channel is drilled below, than all condensate will go through it directly in the mouthpiece and on your tongue, bitterness is just insupportable! Look carefully!
