In Russia frightening images should appear on cigarette pack from June 12th

Provision about placing frightening images on cigarette packs that will warn about smoking harm comes into force on June 12th 2013 in Russian Federation.

After this date may be sold both kinds of cigarette packs with frightening images and without them if these packs still have valid declaration.

Goods on which was made declaration with unfinished expiration date, but in accordance with technical regulation it is five years, may be sold. After expiration of declaration term it should be manufactured in accordance with direction.

Direction about frightening images was issued in May 2012.

Consequently, manufacturers of tobacco products have a whole year to prepare their production of packs to new standards.

Representatives of Russian tobacco industry have informed that they are ready to implement this norm.
